Is it just me, or are songs that are about "rock and roll" some of the most boring songs on the planet?
Exhibits A, B, and C:
1. "Old Time Rock and Roll"-Bob Seger
2. "I Love Rock 'n Roll"-Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
3. "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)"-The Rolling Stones
If you have to state your case for rock, you're already overstating it. Suck, suck, and more suck.

"Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin
"Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin doesn't count because it's about sex. I'm talking about songs that are actually about the music. I realize this distinction can sometimes be fuzzy.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the Black Box Recorder one, but I can think of another counter-argument, which is "Rock and Roll" by The Velvet Underground. That one is about music and it is good. So it's not universally true, but I think you have to be REALLY GOOD to attempt it.
